A36 is a widely used low-carbon structural steel with flexible composition requirements to ensure weldability and workability:

Notes:
A36 does not strictly regulate alloying elements (e.g., Cr, Ni) but permits trace residuals (e.g., Cu ≤0.20% unless specified).
Comparison with A53: A36 has slightly higher carbon content but looser control of sulfur and phosphorus, making it suitable for structural applications rather than high-pressure fluid pipelines.
